How To Choose The Right Neighborhood In Dublin, Ohio

When you begin your search for a new home, it is important to not only evaluate the house itself, but also the neighborhood that the home is in. Everyone has different needs, and there are some important factors you should consider before deciding on a home or neighborhood. Dublin is a great area with tons to offer its residents, but, to make sure that you end up in the right house in the right neighborhood, make sure you look at:

  • Quality of schools

  • Average property values

  • Traffic patterns and congestion

  • Crime rate

  • Current and future construction plans-will this interfere with your route to work? Or taking your kids to school? Is this something you’re willing to put up with or not?

  • Proximity to schools, employment, hospitals, shops, public transportation, prisons, freeways, airports, beaches, parks, stadiums, and cultural activities such as museums, concerts, and theaters.

  • It’s also important to think about what kind of home you want, i.e. single-family home, condominium, apartment, townhouse, etc.

Neighborhood search strategies

For first time homebuyers, especially, it is a good idea to buy a home that meets your primary needs, in the best neighborhood, and that is within your price range. But even experienced homebuyers are looking for a home that meets their needs and that they can afford, so here are a few ways to ensure that you are picking a good location and staying within your price range.

  • Look for communities that are likely to become “hot neighborhoods” in the coming years; they are sometimes on the periphery of the most desirable areas.

  • Look to see if it is a “high demand” area by asking real estate agents if sellers are receiving multiple offers on their homes. You can also drive around neighborhoods and see how many “sale pending” and “sold” signs there are.
